PHP compiler for .NET: "A couple of years ago, Alan Knowles did some experimenting with getting PHP to run under .NET. He documented his expierences here. Alan managed to put together a working PHP compiler and reached the 'Hello World' stage, I believe. Of course there's a long way to go from Hello World to something that's actually useful, such as how to implement PHP's function library. Things that make you think only the insane would want to attempt. Well it turns out a group of Czech programmers were insane enough to do it - meet Phalanger, a PHP compiler for .NET"

(Via Harry Fuecks.) - Interesting. Not ready to base my cross platform plans on it but if it builds into something solid this could be a very good thing for all us PHP guru's out there.

"Let's face it, I'm a one-person helpdesk. That's not too much fun, I'd rather be a developer. But if I can find some software that makes that part of the job easier, I'm going for it." - Gustaf Erikson sums up the need for something like HelpSpot nicely in this post: Helpdesk Software

*[This image was lost to time in my blog transition]* Just got back from watching Meet the Fockers tonight. Awesome awesome movie. I don't know what all the "professional" reviewers were watching but I didn't stop laughing the entire time. I'd say it's a hair less funny than the original but it's a must see.

I was definitely leery of Hoffman and Streisand, but both but in excellent performances. The clips they're showing in TV ad's are awful. In the movie with the surrounding context they shine. I'm ready for the final act of the triliogy "The Little Fockers".

Oh for all your Stars Wars buffs out there you'll want to pay close attention during Gaylords speech 2/3 through the movie for a quote you'll remember.

Holy Sweet Updates! Mac OXxxxxxx: "In the last 2 hours I experienced a computer religious experience."

(Via Derek's Rantings and Musings.) - I LOVE MACS!!! I actually love that more people don't "switch". I think owning a mac is kind of like being freed from the Matrix. Most peoples minds aren't ready to be freed.

phpComplete » SSH for PHP: "Just a little heads up - SSH is coming to PHP. libssh2 is the start, and we should see something in PECL in a few days. At least, that’s what I am being told."

(Via PHP Complete.) - Yes. I have all my servers setup with only ssh access and it's a real pain that I can't use PHP to work with them. This is big. At least if it works reliable it will be big.

RatcliffeBlog?Mitch's Open Notebook: iPods get people laid and can improve their memories, too!
*"Here's a great story I heard over lunch with my good friend Tony Fadell, who leads the iPod engineering group at Apple. It seems he gets a lot of email from people living in college dorms, thanking him for their improved sex life.

Why? Well, their iPods have allowed them to create personal playlists that they carry along as a soundtrack to their lives. When they publish their playlists to Rendezvous networks in their dorms, other students surf those playlists to get an idea what people are like.

So, late at night a guy sitting in his dorm may hear a knock on the door and, opening it, find a girl who loves their playlist. Tony gets mail from guys thanking him for this hidden feature in the iPod."* - Interesting
